Electrician

Electricians install new electrical systems and test, replace, upgrade and service existing systems in all types of buildings and structures. There’s also growing demand for specialized work with controls, fiber optics and communication and computer networks.
You have strong math skills.
You can interpret blueprints.
You like working with digital programs.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications
- Test and measure voltage, loads, ground faults integrity of circuits
- Install power generation, stand-by power generation and power conditioning systems
- Connect power to audio and visual equipment
- Renovate electrical systems in residential and commercial structures
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs

Entrance Requirements
High School:
- Completed: Grade 12
- Recommended: Math 10 | English 10 | Science 10
Apprenticeship Program:
4 to 5 years, includes technical training, on-the-job training and exam. Journeyperson certificate awarded after successful completion. As an apprentice, you also earn while you learn.
